Joe Thomas, Sr., 64, of Decatur, IL, was placed in the loving arms of his Savior, Sunday, January 3, 2016, at his residence. Graveside services for family will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Inn. Joe was born April 4, 1951 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Ephraim and Grovene (Walden) Thomas. He married Carol Kay Flach on July 4, 1981 in Decatur, IL. Joe worked as a Journeyman electrician for over 30 years and worked out of Local #177 in Jacksonville, FL and Local #146 in Decatur, IL. He previously attended the Boiling Springs Church of God and also served as a tutor for children at the Webster Cantrell Hall. He is survived by his wife Carol of Decatur; sons Donald D. (Pam) Schroeder of Decatur, Joe Thomas, Jr. (Joanna) of Titusville, FL, Brett J. Thomas of Decatur; grandchildren Samuel, Abbigayle, Mackenzie, Madison, and Peyton Schroeder, Ariel Thomas; brothers Don Thomas, Roy (JoJo) Thomas, all of Jacksonville, FL, Jim (Cecilia) Thomas; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Leonard & Mary Flach, and granddaughter Kaylia Marie Schroeder. Joe was an outgoing person who loved the Lord with all his heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Joe’s jovial spirit will be missed by all who knew him. "
