Services to celebrate her life will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial services will be at a later date in Oak Wood Cemetery, Austin, MN. Memorials may be made to Richland Community College Foundation or First Lutheran Church.Jo was born July 2, 1936, in Red Wing, MN. She was adopted by Dr. Vern and Augusta Cullen who raised her in Austin, MN. She married Vern C. Torrens on January 14, 1956, in Nashua, IA. Later in life she was blessed to find her biological parents Bruce and Grace Regan, brother Bud, sisters Connie and Patricia all living in Southern California. While raising her four sons she also worked at the University of Minnesota and Richland Community College before retiring. A fabulous cook and homemaker, Jo was known best for the unconditional love and friendship she gave to her family and friends. Summers spent Up North, sunbathing and her dogs gave her great joy. Above all she cherished time spent with those she loved.Surviving are her husband Vern C. Torrens; son Scott R. Torrens and his wife Sally of Valencia, CA; son Steven J. Torrens and his wife Angela of Rocklin, CA; son Jay R. Torrens of Decatur, IL; son Jeffrey C. Torrens and his wife Kristin of Schaumburg, IL; granddaughters Kristina, Emily, Rachel, Julia and Kara; grandsons Trevor and Sam; nieces and nephews; her sister Patricia Sigler; sister-in-law Joann Regan; sister-in-law Shirley Permann and husband Jerome; brother-in-law James Torrens and wife Carol; special family friends Scott Ellison, Lee West, Aaron West, Judy Brown and Louise Cooper.Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her biological parents, her brothers Bud and Larry and her sister Connie.
