JoAnn ( Rork) Williams, 78, of Decatur, IL, and formerly of Henryetta, OK, departed this life peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Memorial services to celebrate Joan's life will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Decatur, IL, where Joan & Hamil were charter members. Joan was born on June 20, 1933 in Henryetta, OK, the daughter of Fred and Sophia (Johnston) Rork. Joan attended Oklahoma State University. She then married Hamil Williams in Henryetta, OK on July 16, 1955. They moved to Decatur, IL in 1958. They have one son and three daughters, Frances Williams (Charles Kyger) of Decatur, IL, Rork (Darlene) Williams of Union, KY, Lora (Scott Green) Williams of Gypsum, CO, and Christy (John) House of Decatur, IL, and loving grandmother known as "Mommom" to Hannah & Sam House, Troy Williams, Brandon and Nathan Green. Joan enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. As a young bride and mother she was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital, and an accomplished seamstress who owned her own store (Sophie's Cut & Sew Knits). Joan was passionate with her volunteering in helping others. She was president of CASA in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, worked as a child advocate, Deep Fork Community Outreach and many others. Joan & Hamil enjoyed traveling the world, visiting family and researching the family tree. Joan loved reading, gardening, entertaining. Joan was preceded in death by the love of her life Hamil, her parents Sophia & Fred Rork, sister Frances (John) Roberts and many loving family members. Take comfort in knowing Joan is with our Heavenly Father and her "ever thine" husband Hamil. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimers Research Foundation.
