Joann Markwell

Joann Markwell, 82, of Moweaqua, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 28 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marrowbone Cemetery, Bethany, IL. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Moweaqua.Joann was born February 12, 1934, in Moweaqua, IL, daughter of Ralph (R.T.) and Lela Gregory. She married Dean Markwell in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1997.Joann was employed as head cashier for many years with Tolly’s Market, Harmon Foods and Food For Less. She later worked for the State Bank of Warrensburg, Moweaqua IGA, Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Home, and owned and operated Granny’s Concessions.Surviving are her daughter: Lee (Les) Miller of Moweaqua; brother: Tom (Lois) Gregory of Bethany; sister: Pat Anderson of Moweaqua; brother-in-law: Orville (Darlene) Markwell of Long Creek; grandchildren: Lindy Miller of Moweaqua, Lane (Lindsay) Miller of Moweaqua, Amber (Justin) Vest of Illiopolis, Niccole Kessinger of Illiopolis; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and one nephew. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Greg, companion, and one brother.Psalm 107:31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. "
