Jerry Lynn Matteson, 86, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on October 26, 1939, Jerry lived a life defined by devotion to his family, a love of the outdoors, and a warm appreciation for good music and company. He will be remembered for his kindness; steady presence and the countless memories he created with those he loved most.
Jerry married on August 21, 1959, and is survived by his beloved wife Wanda Jean Matteson; sons Todd Matteson (Diane) and Kent Matteson (Mary).
He was a cherished grandfather to Stephanie Lynn Matteson and her husband, Benjamin Harris, Tyler Matteson and his wife, Tina, Danielle Crane, Chelsea Watson and her husband, Alex, and Morgan Galloway and her husband, Mike. Jerry was also blessed with great-grandchildren Dexter Harris, August Harris, Wesley Harris, and Olivia Crane, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Among Jerry's greatest loves was spending time with his family. He especially treasured fishing trips with his sons and grandsons, creating memories on the water that will be carried forward for generations. Jerry was also known for his gift of storytelling and his legendary fish tales. The fish he caught often seemed to grow a little larger with each retelling, and whenever someone was carrying a particularly impressive catch, Jerry was quick to claim it as his own. His quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to make those around him laugh will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He also enjoyed golfing, listening to jazz and blues music, and sharing stories and laughter with family and friends.
Jerry's legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the love he shared, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to honor his memory by spending time with loved ones, enjoying the outdoors, sharing a fishing story, and remembering the moments they cherished with him.
