Jerry D. Horton, 80, of Argenta, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be 9:00 A.M. Saturday, June 3, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation 5-7 P.M. Friday, June 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, June 2, at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, Indiana.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jerry’s wife, Jenita, for funeral costs.Jerry was born June 28, 1936, in Jackson, MS, the son of Leon and Ollie Horton. He married Jenita Willis (Shorty) on January 26, 1968, in Petersburg, IN. Jerry was the owner of a construction company and also the owner of Jay’s Dixiecue. He enjoyed cooking BBQ, golfing, fishing, and loved his grandkids. Jerry was a member of Oakley Brick Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.He is survived by his wife, Jenita of Argenta; daughter, Jelena Ekiss of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren, Jacob Massey, Jaelyn Guinn, and Tyler Horton; Brother-in-law, James Thorne of Grenada, MS; sisters, Carolyn Alleman (Dennis) of Oregon and Linda McGee of Jackson, MS; mother-in-law, Mary Willis of Petersburg, IN; brother-in-law, Roger Willis and Tim Willis and sister-in-law, Juanita Richardson, all of Petersburg, IN; many nieces and nephews.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry Lee Horton, sister Francis Thorne, and brother-in-law Larry McGee.
