Jerry Gant

Jerry F. Gant, 79, of Decatur, IL, died 4:42 A.M., Monday, September 17, 2012, at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL. Memorial Service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday (09-20-2012) at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Military Rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter or Cancer Care Center of Decatur. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Jerry was born March 16, 1933, in Decatur, IL, the son of Jerome Gant and Dorothy (Hammel) Smith. He worked in Inventory Control at Caterpillar for 30 years, before retiring. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. He enjoyed playing pool and working on motorcycles. Jerry was a member of (APA) American Pool Players Association and the Eagles Club. He is survived by his son Rick Gant and wife Amy of Columbia, SC; daughters Rebecca Green of Laramee, WY, Amanda Taylor and husband Jesse of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Jon Green, Shelby Gant, Chelsea Wright, Devon Gant, William Gant, Kathleen Gant, Paul Breyfogle; 3 great grandchildren; sisters Janie Shofner, Linda Trimby and Sandra Dial; brothers Mike Gant, Ron Smith, Everett Smith, and David Gant. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Steven Gant, brothers Larry Gant and John Smith. "
