Jerry Ernest Foster, 75, of Decatur, passed away at home Saturday, August 20, 2016 surrounded by his family.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church with Father John Burnette as celebrant. Burial will follow in Harristown Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 23, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur with prayer service at 5:30 PM. The family requests memorials to St. James Catholic Church.Jerry was born December 31, 1940 to Ernest Hugh and Martha Drucilla (Gass) Foster. He graduated from Niantic High School in the Class of 1959. He was a Realtor for many years and completed the Welding Course at Richland Community College. However, his horses were his true love and he spent many years breeding, racing and training Standardbred Race Horses. Jerry was a past member of the Decatur Multiple Listing Service, the Illinois Harness Horseman’s Association and the United States Trotting Association. He was a past member and former President of the Macon County Fair Board.Jerry married Ruby Susanne Moore on August 31, 1963 in Decatur, IL.Jerry is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, his daughter Katherine Anne (Martin) McDonald, his sons Scott Ernest (Julie) Foster and Jeffrey Blaine Foster. He was blessed with a granddaughter Chloe Nicole Foster.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family would like to thank Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois, Dr. Kairouz and the many nurses, especially Allison, who guided them through this difficult time.
