Jerry Bickes

Jerry H. Bickes, 80, of Decatur, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M. Thursday, February 12, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, February 11, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Jerry was born September 1, 1928, in Decatur, the son of Brownie B. and Irma (Shutter) Bickes. He married Kaye Goldenstein March 23, 1992, in Lake Tahoe. Jerrys father, Brownie, started the Bickes Wilbert Burial Vault Company in 1934. Jerry became President of the company in 1959. He was Past President and Chairman of the Board. Jerry was an Eagle Scout, Past President of the Decatur Jaycees, Past President of the Decatur Club, Past President of the Wilbert Manufacturers Association, formerly served on the Board of Directors of Wilbert Inc., and he was a member of the Country Club of Decatur and the Decatur Club. Jerry was an avid deer hunter and loved fishing in the northern woods of Wisconsin. He also loved golfing and spending time with his friends.He is survived by his wife Kaye of Decatur; children: Terry L. Zuege and husband Bob of Decatur, J. Steven Bickes and wife Jody of Decatur, Sandra L. Stacey and husband Gary of Decatur, Julie A. Ward of Bloomington; brother Wayne Bickes and wife Sandy of Decatur; special cousin Gary Shutter of Decatur; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
