Jerris Maples

Jerris Yvonne Maples, 90, of Oakley, IL, passed away Monday, October 23, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Jerris was born February 4, 1933, in Caruth, MO, the daughter of Willie Edward and Mary Estella (Bennett) Crim. She married Hank Maples in 1953, in Caruth, MO.

Jerris was a member of First Christian Church, Decatur. She was a secretary for Decatur Mental Health Center for 15 years. Jerris enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing bridge. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She is loved by all and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Hank, of Oakley, IL; son: Patrick Maples (Paula) of Orange Park, Florida; daughters: Pamela Smith (Charles) of Decatur, Susan O’Riley (Jack) of Indianapolis; grandchildren: Jason, Jody, Donald, Jonathan, Amber, Jared, Zachary, Aaron and Stephanie; 9 great grandchildren; brother: Dennis Parker Crim (Janet) of Senath, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Zelma O’Connor, brothers: Carroll Crim, and 4 brothers that died in infancy.

Memorials may be made in Jerris’ honor to: Special Olympics or Alzheimers Foundation.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
