Jeffrey D. "Jeff" Minich, 47, of Niantic, IL, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, with his family by his side. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, at South Shores Christian Church, Decatur, IL. Inurnment will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Jeff was born September 7, 1967, son of Earl Dean Minich and Priscilla (Blades) Burnett. He married Christina Shafer on February 22, 1989, in Irving, TX. Jeff was a supervisor for Union Iron Works. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, and was an avid NASCAR Dale Ernhart Jr. fan. Surviving are his wife Christina of Niantic, IL; children Brandon and Whitney, at home; mother Priscilla Burnett (Mike Foley) of Decatur, IL; father Earl Minich (Betty) of Mountain Home, AR; father-in-law Ron Shafer of Decatur, IL; brothers Don "Beaver" Minich and companion Kim of Decatur, IL, Chad Minich (Shelly) of Joshua, TX; Scott Minich (Christi) of Ft. Worth, TX; and sister Elizabeth Duncan (Bo) of Joshua, TX. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-laws, step-sisters and brother, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with many friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents Harrison and Virginia Blades, Don and Mildred Minich, step-father Jack Burnett, mother-in-law Edith Shafer, and uncle Harrison "Bud" Blades, Jr. The family would like to thank Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois staff and Dr. Esparaz, especially Kelly and Allison, and DMH Hospice for the loving care given to Jeff during his journey.
