Jeffrey “Jeff” Alan Garver, age 61, of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, Illinois. Masonic Rites will be 2:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home by Stephen Decatur Lodge #979. Funeral services will immediately follow, with burial taking place at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children’s Hospital.
Jeff was born on September 4, 1964, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Duane and Jean (Felter) Garver.
He is survived by his sons, Jacob Garver (wife Jacklynn and daughter Charlotte) of Killeen, Texas, and Matt Garver of Decatur, Illinois; his sister, Lisa Boyd; and his father, Duane Garver of Bloomington, Illinois, along with many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Garver, and his grandparents, Gene and Charlotte Felter and Paul and Maxine Garver.
Jeff was a graduate of Cerro Gordo High School, Richland Junior College, Southern Illinois University School of Mortuary Science, and Millikin University Business School.
He spent much of his professional life serving others as a funeral director in Champaign and Peru, Illinois. Later in his career, he worked as a health inspector for LaSalle County, Illinois.
Outside of work, Jeff had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed cooking, raising tropical fish and exotic birds, boating, water skiing, and proudly earning his private pilot’s license.
Jeff was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the Fighting Illini. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Illinois in Springfield and St. John’s Lodge #0013 in Peru, Illinois.
