Jeanette Marjorie Swartz, 92, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday April 11, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church of Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Private Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 204 W. Prairie Avenue, Decatur, IL 62523. Jeanette was born on October 21, 1921 in Moberly, MO; the daughter of Wilbur and Beatrice (Shakelford) Brown. She married Carl E. Swartz on June 8, 1940 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1980. Jeanette was employed at J.J. Swartz Co. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Decatur for 86 years where she served as an Elder, Deacon, and Parish Visitor. Jeanette was also a member of United Presbyterian Women, Charter member of Kiwaniannes Club of Decatur, where she served as President and other leadership roles, member of Lady Elks, Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she volunteered for over 50 years, and member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program, along with various other committees and volunteering. Jeanette lived a full and faithful life and her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Jeanette is survived by her five children; Kaye (Barry) Devlin, of Lake Ozark, MO, David Swartz, Tom (Donna) Swartz, Carol Fritz, and Cathy (Bart) Coulter, all of Decatur, IL. She is also survived by grandchildren Diane (Ty) Wolf, Doug (Kelly) Devlin, Jennifer (Chip) Hansel, Jim (Danna) Swartz, John Swartz, Chelsea (Jake) Renfro, Brad (Jen) Swartz, Carla (Mike) Rudicil, and Stephanie (Daniel Britton) Fritz; great-grandchildren Katie and Kellie Stempinski, Jacob, Matthew, and Zoe Hansel, Blaine Swartz, Bailey, Arthur, and Kaylynn Renfro, Bianca Swartz, Addyson Rudicil, Kaedyn Nance, Chase and Lily Britton. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Swartz, daughter Karen Swartz, brother Robert E. and sister-in-law Meryle Brown. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Roberto Pabalate and staff, Eagle Ridge, Imboden Creek Living Center, caregivers Anne, Debbie and Jody, and the nursing staff of Decatur Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion given to Jeanette.
