Jean J. Patrick passed away in Decatur on April 18, 2020. The daughter of Herman Jonsson and Laura Motto Jonsson, she was born August 2, 1924, in New Haven, Connecticut, and lived in Connecticut until she married James Charles Patrick on March 22, 1947, in New Haven. Her husband’s chamber of commerce career took them and their four children to several cities and states until they moved to Decatur, Illinois, where they put down roots in 1964. Jean was active in PTA when her children were young, often preparing the newsletter. She served on the board of directors of the Decatur YWCA. She also served on the session and as an elder for her church. For over 18 years Jean worked as a secretary at Millikin University. She and her husband were very active in the Civil War Round Table and Jean prepared their newsletter for about 9 years. Surviving are children Susan L. (Steve) Haury of Springfield, IL; James C. (Billie Sue) Patrick Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; Linnea J. Patrick (husband Kent Giffin) of Winston-Salem, NC; and Jon Scott (Lisa) Patrick of Georgetown, TX. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Chris, Gretchen & Matt Haury and Joy Patrick. Her parents and her husband preceded Jean in death. She has chosen cremation. There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be in Fayette, MO, beside her husband. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1360 W. Main, Decatur, IL 62522. "
