Janice Smith

Janice R. Smith, 66, of Forsyth, IL passed away on May 12, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11:00am at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society and PAWS Jackson (400 W. Walnut St; Jacksonville, IL 62650 217-243-7297). Janice was born on July 15, 1952, in Cortland, NY, the daughter of Carl H. and Eleanor B. (Burnett) Evans. She married John Andrew Smith in Decatur, IL on Aug. 16, 2008. Janice worked in Human Resources as a recruiter for Carle Foundation Hospital from 1995 to 2016. She loved to travel and being with her family and grandkids. Janice loved listening to classical music and was part of the Greater Decatur Chorale, and loved Illini football and basketball, good or bad. Janice is survived by her husband John; two children; Kristen M. (husband, Ryan) Glaspell of Jackson Township, OH and Justin M. (wife, Katy) Shorkey of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Luke and Jacob; two brothers; Eric Evans of St. Petersburg, FL and Richard (wife, Mary) Evans of Massena, NY. Janice was preceded in death by her parents.
