Janice Arlene Shriver, 80 of Decatur, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 2339 North Oakland Avenue, Decatur.
Janice was born on August 17, 1942 in Decatur, daughter of Clyde and Sarah Ann (Morgan) Buster. She worked as a secretary for TexaCo Gas Station during the 9 years she lived in Arizona, alongside her then-husband and her father. In Illinois, she worked for SAILS in Decatur for many years. Janice was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, and she enjoyed participating in church activities whenever she was able. In her younger years in Arizona, she loved camping and fishing, gardening and her two toy poodles.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Christine (Mark) Barringer of Decatur; three granddaughters: Heather (Josh) Urbanowicz, Jessica (Darren) Dix, Kelsey (Brian Well) Wolfe; six great-grandchildren; one brother: Jerry (Arlene) Buster of Taylorville; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Delores Ann Bennett, and one sister in infancy.
