Janice Mier

Janice Corine Mier, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary Post 99. Janice was born October 30, 1928, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Ben and Carrie (Chambers) Cook. She married Omer “Honk” Mier in 1946 in Decatur, IL and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2005. Janice worked for the State of Illinois and also was a secretary for her husband when he worked for Wabash Norfolk and Western Railroad. She was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary Post 99. She is survived by her son Thomas “Tommy” Mier of Decatur; daughter Debra Ann Weltmer of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons Richard Weltmer II of Las Vegas, NV, and Christopher Weltmer of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother. The family would like to thank the staff of Generations at McKinley Court, Dr. Ashu, and the staff of 4th floor DMH for their care and compassion given to Janice.
