Janet R. Skelley, 82, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at South Shores Christian Church, 130 Bristol Drive, Decatur, IL. Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Tuesday, at the church. Burial will follow in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Memorials in Janet’s honor may be made to South Shores Christian Church.

Janet was born June 1, 1943 in Moweaqua, the daughter of Edward M. and I. Marie (Choate) Brooks. She married Tom Skelley on July 6, 1974 in Decatur. Janet worked at Von Maur where she was able to interact with people, something she truly enjoyed. She also enjoyed music, dancing, taking walks, reading her Bible, and visiting her neighbors. Janet loved time spent with her husband and spoiling her grandkids.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Tom; daughters: Kimberly S. Salvador of Los Angeles, CA, Stephanie (Marc) Holden of Bradenton, FL, Dawn Michelle Wong of Bradenton, FL, and Leslie (Jerry) Nuzzo of Sullivan, IL; grandchildren: Thomas Wong, Brandon Wong, Breanna Nielsen, Gabriella Whitcomb, Jonah Mallick, Elijah Holden, Carlin Shumard, Cadisen Boyer, Jadon Nuzzo, Sofia Nuzzo, and Landon Nuzzo; great-grandchildren: Jillian Wong, Noah Nielsen, Rowan Whitcomb, Canaan Whitcomb, Holden Whitcomb, Ellie Boyer and Darcie Boyer; brother: Donnie (Sandy) Brooks; and sister: Linda Young.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother, Arthur Ray Brooks and her twin sister, Janice Haney.
