Janet Rhea passed away June 16, 2017. A service in celebration of Janet's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. July 5th at the First Church of Christ Scientist, 510 W. William, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, it is recommended all memorials be made to the church.She was born Janet Lorraine Patton on May 22, 1916 in Decatur, IL to Grover C. and Faye Belle (Young) Patton. She attended Mary W. French School, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School, and graduated from Decatur High School in 1934. She attended Millikin University for two years where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She graduated from Principia College in 1938. Upon graduation from College she continued to work for Principia in administration. She later returned to Decatur where she became director of the Pi Beta Phi Central Office. She married Clarence Russell Rhea on July 3, 1957.Janet was a very consecrated and active member in The First Church of Christ Scientist. She was also a member of the Mother Church in Boston, MA. She had a wide range of interests and an appreciation for beauty in nature and design. Janet had a subtle sense of humor with the ability to find the best in everyone and in every situation.Surviving are her nephews William E. and Grover P. Penhallegon and her niece Barbara P. McKay. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Clarence and her sisters Barbara Ann Penhallegon and Beverly Jean Gans. "
