Private services will be held at Star of Hope Mausoleum, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Memorials may be made to Millikin University, WILL-FM, or University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine.Janet was born August 21, 1916, in Macon County, IL, the daughter of Dr. Albert and Harriett Mertz. Janet worked at A.E. Staley for a number of years. She was known for many kind deeds. Janet was a lover of opera music and classical music, and a long-time strong supporter of WILL-FM. She was a donor to the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine and established the Janet A. Mertz Veterinary Dental Clinic at the University of Illinois.Janet is survived by her cousin Nancy Pettibone of Charlotteville, NY and numerous friends.She was preceded in death by her sister Judity Haien.
