Janet M. (Hazlet) Lawton, 82, of Decatur, IL, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Heartland Health Care, Decatur. Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL will be handling the arrangements.Janet was born July 2, 1935 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Samuel Orlando and Ola Mae Hazlet. She married Dennis A. Lawton on October 18, 1958 in Decatur, IL and this year they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.Janet worked for Hi-flier Kite Co. Janet loved being a snowbird with her husband Dennis, enjoyed music, dancing and enjoyed family time most of all.She is survived by her husband Dennis; children Cathy (Jim) Stalker of Decatur, Patty Schubert of Decatur, Randall (Kathy) Spaugh of Decatur; grandchildren Tracy (Brian) Plummer, Natalie (Jerry) Stocks, Nathan Wickline, Nicole Wickline, Tiffany (Filmer) Tolentino, Randy (Taren) Spaugh Jr., Justin (Angi) Henington; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws Sheila (Al) Gardner, Jeanine Hazlet, all of Decatur, IL, Carolee Hazlet of Moberly, MO; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gary D. Spaugh, brothers Gene Hazlet, Lyle Hazlet, grandson Dennis Binkley, sister-in-law Dorothy Lawton, brother-in-law Sid Lawton.Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to Dr. Khan and all the staff at Heartland Health Care. Over this long journey together through collaboration we have all provided Janet with the best of care. We are eternally grateful and thank each and every one of you. "
