On June 21, 2025 at 10:10 am, Janet, my beautiful wife, mother, mamaw (as she liked to be called by our grandkids), friend, and daughter of Les and Shirley Miller, went home to be with the Lord. She is no longer suffering and is now enjoying life in a perfect incorruptible body. She walks and talks with Jesus, her mom and dad, and many, many friends and family members. And our two babies are now with “mom.”
Janet was, and is, a very special person. She loved the Lord and was the true embodiment of a Christian. When God questioned whether his creations were worth it or not, He could look at Janet and say, “It was worth it.” She loved working with kids and was the Bible School Director and Youth Director at Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years. She also did volunteer work at Baum Elementary School while our own kids went there and the teachers thought of her as another teacher.
She loved people, never knew a stranger, and would do almost anything for anyone. But family was her passion. She loved her family and always put them ahead of herself. To say that she will be missed is the understatement of the century.
She is survived by her husband Gary of 58 years, three sons: Todd (Amy) of Navarre, Florida, Troy (Amanda) of Mt. Zion, and Brad (Maegan) of Decatur, one daughter: Chris (Mark) of Mt. Zion, and 10 grandchildren. She also leaves sisters Linda of Mt. Zion, Phyllis (Carl) of Decatur, Pam (Jack) of Findlay and Tammy (David) of Forsyth. She also leaves brothers Greg (Jan) of Mt. Zion, Les (Lee) of Moweaqua, Mark (Lucille) of Winchester, and Bobby (Molly) of Foley, Alabama.
Services will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2025 in the Antioch Christian Church located at 5409 East US Route 36 in Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery.
Casual dress is suggested since that’s what Janet would prefer in order for you to be more comfortable, but feel free to wear whatever you want.
Brintlinger and Earl is assisting with the arrangements.
