James B. Whitacre, 80, of Maroa passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. A graveside service will held following the visitation at Maroa Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.James was born November 1, 1936 in Decatur, IL the son of Harry and Gladys (Eschbaugh) Whitacre. He married Donna Stonebraker on September 30, 1956 in Decatur. James was a pattern maker for Wagner Casting, retiring after 37 years. He enjoyed antiques and going to antique markets and he was a wood carver.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna; daughters, Diana (Bruce) Cox of Oakley and Pam Boulware of Decatur; sisters Fran Ray of Decatur and Lois Hadley of Lovington; sister in law Eva Mae Whitacre of Decatur; brother, Raymond (Dorma) Whitacre of Macon; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack, Kenneth and Robert and sister, Shirley.
