Visitation: 10:00 AM on July 18, 2011 Funeral: 11:30 AM on July 18, 2011 James Keith Moore Waddell, 93, of Niantic, IL, died 8:20 P.M., Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Heartland Health Care, Decatur, IL. Funeral services and Masonic Services will be 11:30 A.M., Monday, July 18, at Niantic Christian Church, Niantic, IL, with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church, with Rev. Kathryn Frus officiating. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery, Niantic, IL. Memorials may be made to Niantic Christian Church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Jim was born May 5, 1918, in Sidney, IL, the son of Willard Hubbard and Bessie Lou (Boone) Moore and was adopted by Emmett and Myrtle Boone Waddell. Jim always felt blessed for having the love of two families. He married Margaret J. Edwards on May 5, 1941 in Rock Island, IL. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2001. Jim was a member and active in the leadership of the Niantic Christian Church. He graduated from Eureka College in 1940 and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He served on the Eureka College Board of Trustees for 8 years. Mr. and Mrs. Waddell owned and operated Boone & Waddell Lumber Company in Niantic, IL for 47 years. They also owned and operated Latham Lumber Company in Latham and Waddell Lumber Company in Illiopolis for a number of years. Jim was a member of the Kedron Lodge #340 AF & AM of Mt. Auburn and was a Mason for 67 years , member of Niantic Farmers Grain Board for 29 years, former Eagle Scout, member of Civic Club, Macon County Farm Bureau, ATA, Illinois Lumber & Materials Dealers Association and the American Legion Post #508 in Illiopolis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Construction Battalion during WWII in the South Seas. Jim had great love of music, singing in college and for many funerals and weddings. He is survived by his children Jim M. Waddell and wife Sue of Niantic, IL, Bill Waddell of Antigo, WI, Richard Waddell and wife Amy of Whitestown, IN; grandchildren Kim Cornwell and husband Blain, Michael Waddell, Terah Waddell Mann, Brian Waddell and wife Jill, Brett Waddell and wife Jenny; great grandchildren Kellie and Brock Cornwell, Addilyn and Clara Waddell, Devon Mann, Tyler and Brynn Waddell. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters. The family would like to thank Keystone Meadows & Heartland nursing staff and DMH for their loving care and compassion given to James. "
