He married Kathleen Ann Karcher in 1985 in Decatur, IL.James is survived by his wife Kathleen of Decatur, IL; sons Danny Smallwood of Decatur, IL and Wayne Smallwood of Springfield, IL; stepchildren Debra (Robert) Musgrave and their children John and Jamie of Decatur, IL, Robert (Neka) Karcher and their children Kristopher of Shelbyville, IL; sisters Barbara (Harry) Scott of Jacksonville, IL and Dorothy He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Vince.
