He has requested that his body be cremated and there will be no funeral or memorial service. Burial will be in Fayette, MO, at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Jim was born July 4, 1920, in Nelson, Missouri, the son of Henry Larkin Patrick and Maurine Marr Patrick. He received a B.A. degree in History from Central Methodist College (now University) in Fayette, MO. He served in the Navy during World War II, earned a Masters degree at Yale University, and spent some twenty-seven years in chamber of commerce work, starting at Macon, MO, and later working in Jefferson City, MO, and Valparaiso and New Albany, IN. For four years he was on the staff of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, first at Buffalo, NY as District Manager, and then in Washington, D.C., where he was Public Affairs Assistant. In 1964 he moved to Decatur, IL, to serve as Executive Vice President of the local chamber for more than eleven years. In 1975 he joined a friend as an Officer and Director in a group of small-town banks near Decatur and helped start the Hickory Point Bank. After serving one two-year term on the Macon County Board, he returned to CofC work for 1 years at Wheaton, IL. He also worked as a seasonal Park Ranger for the National Park Service for one summer at Perrys Victory Monument in Lake Erie, two summers at the Lincoln Home in Springfield, IL, and one summer at Pea Ridge National Military Park in Arkansas. A War Between the States buff, he was a Past President of the Decatur Civil War Round Table, served as President of Golden K Kiwanis, adjutant of the American Legion, the Masons, American Association of CofC Executives, and volunteered at the information desk at the Decatur Airport.He married Jean Jonsson in New Haven, CT on March 22, 1947. She survives along with four children: Susan Haury (Stephen), Springfield, IL; James C. Patrick, Jr. (Billie Sue), Albuquerque, NM; Linnea Patrick (Kent Griffin), Winston-Salem, NC; and Jon Scott Patrick (Lisa), Georgetown, TX; plus four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by parents, sisters Dorothy Patrick Maupin and Mary Frances Patrick Rouse.Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1360 West Main Street, Decatur, IL 62522.The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Fair Havens Christian Home for the care they gave Jim.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com.
