James “Jim” Nash, 69, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at his residence.Private family services will be held with military rites being conducted. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements.Jim was born July 3, 1947, in Decatur, IL, the son of William Arthur and Dorothy May (Goodpasture) Nash. He married Janet Hurtte on September 17, 1976 in Decatur, IL.Jim led a life of service to others. He was a police officer for the City of Maroa, and later for the Macon County Sheriff’s Dept. Jim also worked for Decatur Ambulance and was a Security Officer at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, receiving 3 purple hearts during his service and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.He is survived by his wife Janet of 40 years; children Cherise (Cory) Neeley of Moweaqua, IL, Brian Nash, Brandon Nash, Amanda (Steve) Bivens, all of Decatur; grandchildren Damien Nash, Raeanne Neeley, Cierra Neeley, Brooke Neeley, Nate Bivens, Vivienne Bivens, Grace Bivens; brother Allan (Carolyn) Nash of Decatur; sister Janet (Richard) Bonds of Pace, FL; and best friend Dan Graham of Decatur, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, nine sisters and two brothers.
