James (Jim-Gene) E. Mudd, 87, of Decatur, IL, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Symphony of Decatur, Decatur, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M., Friday, May 3, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or Alzheimer's Association, 2309 W. White Oaks Drive, Springfield, IL 62704. Jim was born April 15, 1926 in Springfield, IL, the son of Albert and Verna (Fisher) Mudd. He grew up in Chatham, IL and attended Cathedral Boys High School in Springfield. Jim married Mary Anne Schmertmann on May 4, 1957 at St. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death on September 2, 1984. Jim was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He worked for York Division of Borg-Warner Company for 33 ½ years as a job setter in the shop, before retiring in 1987. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII and was a member of K of C #577. Jim enjoyed gardening and yardwork, jazz music, history, and was an avid Cardinal fan. He loved his family very much and taught his children the true meaning of family. He is survived by his children Michael (Deborah) Mudd of Decatur, IL, Thomas (Kathryn) Mudd of Florrisant, MO, Robert (Tami) Mudd of Sullivan, IL, Monica (Charles) Querrey of Bartlett, IL, Rebecca (Javier) Ramirez of Hinsdale, IL; 8 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Keystone Meadows and Symphony of Decatur for their wonderful and loving care given to Jim during his journey. "
