James Robert Maddox, 87, of Niantic, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Fair Havens Christian Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9-10:30 A.M. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Memorials may be made to Illini Congregational Church or Fair Havens Christian Village. Jim was born October 30, 1930, in Decatur, the son of Robert V. and Nell (Williams) Maddox. He married Patricia Ann Beck August 20, 1948, at the Illini Congregational Church in Warrensburg. Jim was a farmer all his life. He was a firm believer in God and was a member of Illini Congregational Church. For 10 years Jim was part of the Macon County Prison Ministry. He was a former President of the Niantic Civic Club, and also planted many native Prairie grass areas. Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Pat of Niantic; sons, Joe R. Maddox and wife Diane of Chatham, Ted B. Maddox and wife Dawne of Warrensburg, and John D. Maddox of Niantic; Grandchildren, Dr. Brandon and wife Angie, Dr. Jeremy and wife Kris, Matthew and Andrea, Trenton and wife Hannah, Troy and wife Jennifer, Taylor and wife Stephanie, Stacey and husband Roger, and Zachary and wife Erin; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan, and brother Ronald.
