James Lee Ludwick, 80, of Decatur, IL, went home to be with Jesus, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with minister, Steve Higgs officiating. Visitation will be 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Northwest Christian Church.Jim was born October 10, 1936, in Decatur, IL, the son of James Franklin and Cora G. (Lockhart) Ludwick. He married Marilyn Joan Fulk on November 24, 1956 in Decatur, IL. Jim graduated from Decatur High School. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was happiest around his family going to ballgames or any family gathering. His grandchildren and great granddaughters brought him much joy.Jim was a member of Northwest Christian Church. He worked for A&P and Kroger as a meat cutter for 42 years, retiring in 2000. Jim enjoyed traveling and visited 49 of the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and several cruises. Jim also enjoyed camping, boating, riding his motorcycle and playing cards. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1954 – 1962.He is survived by his wife Joan of 60 years; children Kathy D. Coale and husband J.C., Linda L. Ludwick, Jeffrey L. Ludwick, all of Decatur; grandchildren Shannon Lynch and husband Michael of Warrenton, MO, Christopher Ames of Champaign, IL, Zachary Ludwick, Wade Ludwick, Madison Ludwick, all of Decatur; step grandchildren Bret Coale and wife Bredina of Decatur, Jason Coale and wife Elana of Greenville, NC; great granddaughters Teagan and Kennedy Lynch of Warrenton, MO; sister Joan Nelson and husband Bob of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Margie Beckner.He will be greatly missed. "
