James “Jim” Hurtt, 85, of Warrensburg, IL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2017, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. The family requests casual attire. Memorials may be made to Warrensburg United Methodist Church. Jim was born January 23, 1932 in Warrensburg, IL, the son of Alonzo and Flonnie (Daniels) Hurtt. He married Janice Burdine on February 12, 1973 in Decatur, IL.Jim was a member of Warrensburg United Methodist Church. He worked at Miller Industrial for over 30 years as Office Manager. Jim loved woodworking, building furniture, and especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in Jr. Dragracing. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Summit Lodge #431 AF & AM.He is survived by his wife Janice of 44 years; daughters Julie Wetzel of Urbana, Karen (Ellis) Buth of Warrensburg; son Rick McVey of Warrensburg; grandchildren Jim Ryan of Urbana, Brandy Fellows of Decatur, Shannon (Chris) Brand of Colona, IL, Ellis V. (Katie) Buth of Decatur, Travis Buth of Nineveh, IN; and one great grandson Zack Stenger.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and staff at DMH Cardiac and Vascular Unit.
