James Douglas

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 with a prayer service at 5:30 PM at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be at a later date.Mr. Douglas was born October 7, 1943, in Peoria, IL, the son of Larry and Betty Jane Douglas. He married Rebecca Taylor on December 26, 1985 in Decatur at the Grace United Methodist Church.Mr. Douglas served proudly in the United States Air Force. He was a superintendent for Caterpillar in Decatur, and retired after 34.5 years in 1999. Mr. Douglas was a member of First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda, FL. He enjoyed fishing and loved the outdoors.Surviving are his wife Rebecca of Punta Gorda, FL; mother Betty Jane Douglas of Washington, IL; son Larry (Jodi) Doughlas of Appleton, WI; daughter Elizabeth (Darrel) Slocumb of Greensboro, GA; stepdaughter Andrea (Brian) Adams of Centralia, MO; stepson Matthew (Katy) Cooley of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren Taylor and Reese Douglas, Emily and Michael Adams, Liam and Aidan Cooley; brother Richard Douglas of Washington, IL; and sister Judy (Denny) Knauer of Strawn, IL.Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by his father.Jim will be remembered for his hard work and determination by many family and friends.
