James “Jim” Byers passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, October 14, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be at 10:00AM, also at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s honor can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Jim was born May 12, 1956, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Phyllis (Copenbarger) Byers. He was a graduate of Niantic High School in the class of 1974, where he played basketball and ran track.
Jim was employed by Bingo King for more than 20 years and affectionately took on the title of Bingo King. He was a great fan of good food and enjoyed collecting coins. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandkids, where he could always be found sharing stories. He was immensely proud of his daughters and granddaughters, always doting on his granddaughters by sharing pictures with everyone.
He is survived by his loving daughters; Elayna Burns (Dustin) and Emilee Byers; grandchildren Camryn Byers, Isla and Brynne Burns; sister Sandy Belcher, brother Jeff (Debbie) Byers; uncles, an aunt, nieces, a nephew, and many cousins who he loved dearly.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 4 uncles; 2 aunts, and will be dearly missed by those who loved him
