Funeral services with Masonic rites will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Decatur, with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association.James was born March 22, 1923, in Auburn, IL, the son of Jobe and Charolette (Ray) Burnett. He married Mary Keller on January 19, 1948, in Springfield, IL.James was a decorated WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a operating engineer with Local 965, Springfield, IL. James was a member of Ark & Anchor Masonic Lodge #354, Auburn, IL, and enjoyed working on cars. He was a hard worker and a dedicated family man.Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary of Decatur; sons Michael (Arlene) Burnett of Decatur, IL, James K. Burnett of Clinton, IL; twin daughters Pamela K. Burnett of Decatur, IL and Patricia (Steve) Pherigo of Champaign, IL; grandchildren Tonya (Jim) Davis of Bloomington, IL, Brian Burnett of Decatur, IL, Falon Pherigo of Chicago, IL; and great grandson Samuel Davis.He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.The family would like to thank all of the staff at Heartland of Decatur Nursing Home for the excellent care they have given our father and for the support they have given the family members.
