James Bednar

James E. Bednar, 91, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019, at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL. Funeral Liturgy will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or St. Teresa H.S. Athletics. James was born October 9, 1927, in Nokomis, IL, the son of John and Anna (Balent) Bednar. He married Rosemary Pacitti on November 3, 1951 in Vandalia, IL. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2006. James was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He retired as an adjuster from Caterpillar, Inc. after 30 years of service. James was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved playing poker with friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his son: Jim (Pamela) Bednar of Decatur; beloved grandson: Jarrett Bednar (fiancée Carley Ramich) of Appleton, WI; sister-in-law: Jennie Bednar of Pleasant Prairie, WI; niece: Karen (Tom) Chiappetta of Pleasant Prairie, WI. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, and one nephew.
