Jackie L. Baskett, Sr., 79, passed away November 26, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born July 4, 1942 to Fred and Christine (Jackson) Baskett.

Jackie was a graduate of Feitshans High School. In 1973, he started his police career as one of the original 5 Springfield Airport Police Officers. In 1976, he was promoted to Supervisor of Public Safety and in 1978 named Director.
Jackie’s career then took him to Owasso, Oklahoma where he took a position as Airport Operations Officer in conjunction with the Tulsa Police Department. In Owasso, Jackie was selected as a bomb dog handler, attended training at Lackland Air Force Base and was named the Honor Graduate of his class. He and his partner “Romco” returned to Tulsa where Jackie became the first sworn Tulsa International Airport Police Officer.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Baskett of Owasso, Oklahoma; his children: Jack Baskett Jr. ofMonmouth, IL and Lynette Lewis (Ken Graf) of Springfield, IL; four grandchildren: Aaron (Amanda) Walter of Chatham, IL, Adam (Halley) Walter of Riverton, IL, Tyler Jane Baskett of Springfield, IL, and Kenton Baskett of Sherman, IL; two great grandchildren: Haleigh and Sylias Walter of Riverton, IL; brothers: Fred (Jessie) Baskett and Larry (Mary) Baskett, both ofSpringfield, IL, Dean (Jean) Baskett of Wetumpka, AL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jackie was also blessed with a bonus family which includes William Hill Vanaman, Chelsey (Brian) Vanaman Cox, Hudson Hill Cox, William Levi (Rachel) Vanaman, and Logan Vanaman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his favorite Uncle JB Baskett, and Mike Vanaman.
