Jack L. Smith, 93, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Villa Healthcare East in Sherman, IL.Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL.Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Jack was born February 10, 1924, in Decatur, IL, the son of Charles Lincoln and Estelle (Dodd) Smith. He married Bettye Irene Beaver in June 1946 in Decatur, IL.Jack was a longtime employee of Illinois Bell. He was a Hamm Radio operator, was a bicyclist, and enjoyed painting. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and had an interest in History because of his time serving in the Navy.He is survived by his son Jack B. Smith and wife Gwen of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Cody Smith of Asheville, NC, Rachel Smith of Tuscaloosa, AL; sisters Judith Billiter and Karen Richardson.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Maxine and Marjorie, and infant brother.
