Ivan Brooks

Ivan L. Brooks, 72, of Decatur, IL, went to be with his Lord & Savior, at 5:35 P.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2012, surrounded by his family, at Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Love at First Sight, 1235A Hickory Point Mall, Forsyth, IL 62535 or American Lung Association of IL, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62711. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Ivan was born May 30, 1939 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Herschel and Pansy (Shewmake) Brooks. He married Barbara (Crawford) Brooks on October 23, 1983 in Decatur, IL. Ivan was a member of Rock Springs Church of God. He retired from Wagner Castings after 31 years of service. Ivan enjoyed going out dancing, fishing, being in the outdoors and working in his yard, and riding his motorcycle. After retiring, he loved spending the winter in Florida in the motorhome with his wife and beloved dog "Cookie". He is survived by his wife Barbara of Decatur, IL; stepdaughter Cindy (Jack) Schulte of Wichita, KS; children Valorie House of Winter Park, FL, Ivan R. (Leanne) Brooks of Decatur, IL, and their mother Phyllis Brooks; grandchildren Jason & Laura Brooks; and brothers Herschel (Mary) Brooks of Macon, IL, Kenneth (Diane) Brooks of Florida, Charles (Marilyn) Brooks of Decatur, IL.
