Ireland A. “Sonny” Creason, 94, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, December, 17, at Symphony of Decatur.Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Boiling Springs Cemetery in Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials in Sonny’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.Sonny was born on April, 28, 1923 in Henderson, KY. He worked the coal mines with his father until he enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country during WWII. He then moved to Illinois and worked at Park Leghorn Farm for 40 years. He married Joann Coffman on July 7, 1973 in Decatur. Sonny had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved the great outdoors. He was a member of Heartland Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Joann (Coffman) Creason and his daughter, Carolyn Jean McClure and her husband Pat of Forsyth; granddaughters, Stefanie Brock (Nathan) of Mt. Zion and Shannon Weaver (Chris) of Decatur; two great grandchildren, Kayla Brock and Patrick Brock; and two sisters, Hattie (Kenny) Kroeger and Golda (Walter) Lee, both of Newburgh, IN.Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
