Ileta Fern (Turpin) Malone, 98, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL. Memorials may be made to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Missionary Fund or Humanitarian Fund.Ileta was born August 22, 1919, in Farmer City, IL, the daughter of Archie Jackson and Susie (Tharp) Turpin. She married William Nelson Malone on November 29, 1945 in Bloomington, IL. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2017.Ileta was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Relief Society, the Primary, and taught Sunday School for 22 years. Ileta also served on missions with her husband in England, Australia, Washington, D.C., Salt Lake City, Chicago, and St. Louis. She was an expert seamstress, enjoyed gardening, and was a talented artist, painting still life and landscapes.Surviving are her children Edward William (Linda) Malone, Ronald Archie Malone, and Katherine Anne (David Alan) Binder; 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Gloria Malone.Ileta was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, brother Charles Cecil Turpin, sister Audrey Koshinski.
