Howard Ogden

Howard L. Ogden, 88, of Decatur, IL passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Howard was born June 22, 1928, the son of Roy and Mae Matheny Ogden in Decatur, IL. He married Janet Wilson on August 17, 1946. He was a retired engineer at Firestone Tire. Mr. Ogden enjoyed playing golf, reading, traveling and loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Elk’s BPOE of Decatur, supporter of the American Legion Post # 105, member of the Moose Lodge and Southside Country Club. “Chief” as he was often called, was a true gentleman and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his sons Tim (Connie) Ogden of Decatur, Kevin (Cindy) Ogden of Springfield; companion, Sandi Peters; daughter in law, Linda Ogden of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters Shirley Koonce of Tulsa, OK, Sue (Larry) Trimble of Redding, CA, Sharon (David) Rice of Blue Mound, and Carol Acree (companion David Klein) of Decatur; grandchildren Jennifer (Casey) Tom, Matthew (Casey) Ogden, Jeffrey Ogden (fiancée Samantha Murphy), Andrea (Jared) Morris, Eric Ogden (companion Shannon Cain), Elizabeth Ogden, and Darren Ogden (companion Chelsea Trimper); great grandchildren Madelyn Ogden, Kaitlyn Ogden, Isabel Tom, Nicholas Ogden, Michael Ogden, Matthew Morris and Jackson Morris. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years Janet, sons Daniel and Larry, brothers, Robert, Wilford (Ray), Richard, and Dave and sisters Mary, Mildred and Pat. "
