Homer D. Kellogg, 92, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in Quincy, IL, at the IL Veteran's Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday (12-20-2014) at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Homer was born November 19, 1922, in Decatur, IL, the son of Melvin and Henrietta ( Denton) Kellogg. He married Iona Anderson and she preceded him in death in March 2000. Homer was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a gunner mate First Class and was aboard the U.S.S. Wichita receiving 13 battle stars. He worked as an Electrician for the IBEW Local 51 for 50 years and was a union member of the IBEW. Homer attended Maranatha Assembly of God and loved working and gardening. He is survived by his sons Dale (Linda) Kellogg of Sullivan, John (Cathy) Kellogg of Oreana, Larry (Janie) Kellogg of Bethany; grandchildren Tom, John, Shannon, Ashton, Joe; cousin Ron Anderson and his children Becky and Jerry. Also surviving is one special friend, Janet Pugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Iona, and grandson Craig. "
