Hester Kaufman

Hester Lee Kaufman, 91, of Harristown, died at 7:11 AM, Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Temple Baptist Church, 1818 E. Mound Rd, Decatur. Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church. Burial will be at Harristown Cemetery. Memorials: Temple Baptist Church. Hester was born August 16, 1921, in Fairfield, IL, the daughter of John Thomas and Carrie Marie (Goodwin) Boze. She married John H. Kaufman, Sr., on March 2, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Kaufman served as the Postmaster in Harristown, IL retiring after 35 years of service. She was a Charter member of Temple Baptist Church, D.A.R., Phi Beta Tau Sorority, and served with St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Kaufman is survived by her son John H. (Sharon Sue) Kaufman, Jr., of Harristown, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bradley) Centola of Harristown, IL, Angela (Charles) Atwater of Decatur, IL, John H. "Hank" (Melissa) Kaufman III of Niantic, IL; great-grandchildren, Jacey, Sierra, Bradley, Cody, Johnny IV, Mason, Aurelia, and Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Kaufman, Sr.; and one sister Phyllis Marzano. "
