Herschel Jenkins

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Rock Springs Church of God, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 P.M., Friday, January 7, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.Herschel was born November 10, 1935, at home in Boody, IL, the son of George and Grace (Lourash) Jenkins. He married Jean Humphrey on May 1, 1960 in Springfield, IL.Herschel was owner of Jenkins Muffler and retired in 2001. He loved to race and build race cars and was an avid fan of NASCAR. Herschel enjoyed many sports.Herschel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean of Decatur, IL; son Mike (Dani) Hudson of Decatur, IL; daughter Sue (Kerry) Barnett of Decatur, IL; brothers Leslie (Maggie) Jenkins of Decatur, IL and Dale (Kaye) Jenkins of Boody, IL; grandchildren Danielle (Jevon) Thomas, Daphne (Zach) Bollhorst, and Darci (companion Austin) Page; great-grandchildren Melinda Thomas, Austin Thomas, Bryce Thomas, Carly Thomas, Kobe Bollhorst, Karson Bollhorst, and Kellen Bollhorst.Herschel was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandchild Keller, and brother Herb.Special thank you to Dr. Atluri, Dr. Arnold, and to St. Marys staff.
