Henry Walter English, 80, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 10:49 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 9:30-10:45 a.m. Monday with a Masonic service at 10:45. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois. Henry was born April 28, 1932, in Decatur, the son of Robert L. and Ida M. (Lemar) English. He married Charlotte (Lienhart) Smith on November 5, 1966, in Decatur. Henry served in the Army National Guard. He was an electrician with A.E. Staley, retiring after 41 years of service. Henry was a member of the Shriners and Masons, and was a former member of Third United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was an avid Cubs baseball and Illini basketball fan. He also enjoyed working two crossword puzzles every morning. He loved to travel and spent 10 winters in Florida with his wife Charlotte. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Charlotte, of Decatur; son Gregory (Kathryn) Smith of Decatur, IL; daughter Sheri (Jody) Penny of Golden Valley, AZ; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Lora (Don) Drummond of Oldsmar, FL and R. Jean (Troy) Henson of Decatur, IL; and sister-in-law Mary English of Duncanville, TX. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, sister Marie Walden, and 2 siblings who passed away in infancy. The family wishes to thank St. Mary's Hospital ICU nursing staff, St. Mary's Hospital Cancer Care Center nursing staff, and Dr. Velasco and his nursing staff at Cancer Care Specialists for their loving care.
