Helen F. McDonald of Cerro Gordo was ushered into the arms of Jesus, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 6:48 am surrounded by her family. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Helen was born April 27, 1923 the daughter of John and Della Sites of Cerro Gordo. Before she was two years old, both of her parents and one brother died. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Wilbur and Myrtle Sites in Cerro Gordo where she attended school. She married David W. McDonald, December 27, 1942. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 2005. They farmed for many years together. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen and her husband Pastor David Stogsdill of Oakley; grandson Michael Stogsdill of Decatur; granddaughter Tammie and her husband Brian Ennis of Clinton; great-grandchildren Tiffany Stogsdill, Aaron, Nathan, and Miranda Ennis. Helen was a member of The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo, Women's Missionary Society and served the church in various capacities as a Sunday School teacher and deaconess. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle who raised her, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and her cousin, Forrest Sites who was raised as her brother. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2011 in The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo at 10:30 a.m. Helen loved flowers. However, she asked that rather than flowers in her honor, memorials be given to The Brethren Church or the Cerro Gordo Ambulance Service. "
