Helen Janet Conard, 93, of Decatur, died at her residence 11:35 PM, Saturday, October 8, 2011. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. Memorials: DMH Home Health Services or American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church. Helen was born June 28, 1918 in Sullivan, IL, the daughter of Otto P. and Theresa (Wangler) McCune. She married Cloyd Conard on March 12, 1939, in St. Charles, MO. Helen was employed for 8 years as a beautician and was also a homemaker in her own home. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She also served as a volunteer for Decatur Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Cloyd Conard; nephews, Cloyd A. Conard and wife Colette of Peoria, IL, Roger Lane and wife Mary of Dadeville, AL, Terry Conard and wife Marcia of Moorhead, MN and great-niece, Tamara Melaas of Rockton, IL and several great nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, and niece, Cheri Hilgeman. Helen wants to thank Pastor Kent and Kathy King-Noble, Dr. Richard Fritz for his kindness and treatment over the years, Cathy Mayberry and the DMH Home Health Care Team, and all of her caregivers.
