Helen Binkley, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.Helen was born to Nora Dell (Roche) Wood and Timothy Carl Wood on February 7, 1923 in Decatur, IL. She married George Binkley on June 29, 1947 and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2000.Helen received her Bachelor and Master’s of Education from Millikin University, also receiving her Reading Specialist Certification. She taught elementary education for 32 years, the last 24 years as a Title I Reading Teacher in Macon Grade School. She has been a member of the First Methodist Church for 68 years. Helen was a member of Macon County Retired Teacher, Illinois Retired Teacher and Alpha Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge at South Side Country Club for over 40 years.She leaves one child Ann Bruckner (David), and daughter-in-law Sue Craft Binkley; six grandchildren Jillian Yuhas, Jan Yuhas, Megan (Robert) Ketcherside, Jacob Bruckner, Kathryn (Charles) Rouse, Rachel Bruckner; and three great grandchildren Ava Maryn and Ella Charis Ketcherside and Gavin Drake Rouse; one sister Mary Ann Grohne; sister-in-law Mary Binkley; and several nieces and nephews.Her husband, parents, brother Bob Wood, sister Eleanor Florian and son George Fredrick, Jr. preceded her in death.Private family graveside service will be held at Illini Cemetery in Warrensburg. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements.
