Hazel Eleanor (Lawyer) Crowe, 97, of Lovington, IL, formerly of Cerro Gordo, IL, died 6:40 A.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 21, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL. Visitation will be 5 to 8 P.M., Friday, April 20, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo, Cerro Gordo American Legion Auxiliary, or Friendship Hill of Lovington, IL. Hazel was born March 18, 1915, in Oakley, IL, the daughter of John E. and Maude I. (Armstrong) Soran. She married Harold Eugene Lawyer on July 23, 1939 in Covington, IN and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1985. She later married Burris Grason Crowe on November 1, 1986 and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2004. Hazel was a member of Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo, 60 year member of Cerro Gordo American Legion Auxiliary, 53 year member of G.F.W.C. Womens Club of Cerro Gordo, and member of Rebecca Lodge. She worked as cashier for 28 years at The American Bank in Cerro Gordo, retiring in 1977. Hazel enjoyed playing bridge, mexican train, solitaire, puzzles and loved socializing. This wonderful sweet woman will be missed. She is survived by her son Roger Lawyer (Mary) of Oakley, IL; granddaughter Ami Kerr (Anthony) of Marshall, MN; grandsons Tim Lawyer (Lynn) of Brentwood, TN, Jeff Lawyer of Oakley, IL; great grandchildren Avery & Adalinn Kerr, Luke & future great granddaughter London Lawyer; stepdaughter Irene Morr (Gary) of Thousand Oaks, CA; 4 step grandchildren & 10 step great grandchildren; special nieces Wanda Lawrence, Sharon Jendry (Milton); nephew Howard Lawrence; sister-in-laws Joanne Crowe and Mary Alice Samp; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John & Billie Soran, sister Irene Fair. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. W.H. Shackelford and staff, 6th floor nursing staff at St. Mary's, administrator Erica and staff at Friendship Hill, where she called home for the last 4 years, and nieces Crystal and Diane for all their love and compassion given to Hazel.
