Harry Lyle Rotz of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.

Harry was born on January 25, 1936, to Carl N. and Wilma I. (Payne) Rotz, in Decatur, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Becky L. (Ward) Rotz.

Harry graduated from Niantic Harristown High School in 1954. He worked at Illinois Power for 42 years, retiring in 1995. After retiring he owned a cattle farm in Carlisle Kentucky, Bittersweet Farm. Upon retirement he resided in Alamo Texas until moving back to Illinois to be close to family and friends in 2012.

Harry was a cowboy in his younger days. He loved working with horses, barrel racing and winning state fair ribbons. He was active in FFA and helping his father farm in Niantic and Harristown. He also loved to travel and see the world as well as camping and boating.

He is survived by his children Scott Rotz (Deedee Luttrell), Jodi Trusner (Dennis Fernet) and Chad Rotz (Holly).

Harry was preceded in death by his son Todd Rotz and his sister, Judy Keehn.

He was the grandfather of five and great-grandfather of two. He had many cousins and nieces and nephews that will miss his hearty laugh.

A graveside memorial service will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Harristown Cemetery. Memorial donations in Harry’s honor may be made to Future Farmers of America.
